John Francis Hannon – The Famine Tour

Connemara Day Tours presents, “The Famine Tour”. Journey through Renvyle’s darkest hour and learn about the way it was during the Great Famine. The Renvyle landlord, the tennants and the loss of half of the Peninsulas population will be explained during this one hour bus tour around the Renvyle Peninsula with local guide, John Hannon.

Family Seashore Forage

Date: Saturday 4th May
Time: 1.30pm

Sinead O’Brien of Mungo Murphy’s Seaweed will lead you along the seashore where you will learn to identify edible seaweeds, which you will then bring back to the Festival Marquee and learn how to prepare for tasty meals and snacks including a cook off at 3:30pm.

 

Diamonds Equestrian

Date: Sunday 5th May
Time: 3.15pm
Venue: Diamonds Equine, Tully, Renvyle
Tickets: €5 per person. Children under 12 go free. Payable at the venue.

The Connemara Pony is famous for being hardy and sure-footed, so it’s no surprise that the breed evolved here on the rocky West coast. This event includes a talk on this wonderful animal followed
by a show jumping demonstration.
